It Works Better Than Barefoot Shoes

Davis, a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association, said cushioned running shoes encourage runners to land hard on the heel by the end of each step.

"When you land on your heels you'll be presented with a very rapid increase in peak force your body experience. It goes completely away when you run barefoot because you land on the ball of your foot," said Davis.

Davis and co-authors have tested their theories by looking at the Kenyan runners.

"We wanted to know if people who had never worn shoes before showing the same kind of ground operation," said Davis.

"We felt there was a better indication of how we are obviously intended to be executed, because these people had never worn shoes. When we tested (riders) in Kenya, we found exactly the same kind of mechanical. They have no land on their heels, they land with a pattern of heel strike very sweet, "she said.keen shoes

After removing the shoe and remove the artificial shock absorbers, tendons and muscles of the foot, ankle, calf and thigh began to work, they were built, Davis said.

She said the cause of pain because riders are not accustomed to using these muscles to control the foot and absorb shock, and tend to exaggerate in the early stages.

"We basically deconditioned feet with shoes and clothes in a very robust business control and cushioning shoes, which takes away some of the work on foot," he said.

Davis said she also found that running barefoot can help people by surprise to strengthen and increase the arcades.

The study was presented at the Australasian Podiatry Conference 2011 in Melbourne.
